It’s morphin time for David Denman! Well, almost! Denman has been cast as Sam Scott in Lionsgate’s upcoming film remake of the popular children’s 90s show, Power Rangers. Sam Scott is the father of Jason Scott aka the Red Ranger. Though Sam Scott was never all that prevalent in the original show, The Hollywood Reporter states that his character will be at odds with his son over his football career in the upcoming movie.
Denman has had a number of past roles in TV and film alike. He’s appeared in shows such as ER, Angel, and The Office. Some of his film appearances include Big FIsh, After Earth, and Jobs. He also was in the recent Michael Bay drama, 13 Hours.
Power Rangers is directed by Dean Israelite and stars Dacre Montgomery (Jason/Red Ranger), RJ Cyler (Billy/Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott (Kimberly/Pink Ranger), Becky G (Trini/Yellow Ranger), and Ludi Lin (Zack/Black Ranger). Elizabeth Banks will play the film’s villain, Rita Repulsa, an evil sorceress bent on dominating the cosmos.
Power Rangers is scheduled for a US release of March 24, 2017.
