With EA coming in with titles like Titanfall 2, Madden, FIFA, and even a new line of games called “EA Originals“, they had to save Battlefield 1 for last, and for good reason too.
What we’ve seen these past few years for our common FPS’s is always the same; futuristic or modern combat. Battlefield 1 squashes that by propelling us into a war that’s never been covered or even touched upon in any franchise, whether it be Call of Duty, Battlefield, or even Medal of Honor….World War 1.
Instantly there’s something new here, vehicles. I’m not saying like, cars, or tanks, that’s been done before. I’m saying armored trains, and airships (in the class of like, a zeppelin). Watching a 200+ foot zeppelin nose-dive into a very unfortunate town is something that’s beautiful, in a horrible way. With this, Dice not only captured the scale of the new game, but also the pure essence of destruction that has existed in all the past entries.
We also saw nods at standard tank combat, as well as motorcycle battles with a passenger, but we’re here for the new stuff! Something that also hasn’t been done before; horseback battles! The scale of how many people can be in a battle was shown in this scene, and it’s actually amazing. We’ll see more of this in the coming months, but it’s still a nice little teaser of what’s to come.
What we’ve got to look forward to is a breath of fresh air in an FPS genre that’s been lackluster as of late. Get ready for some good old fashioned trench warfare.
Battlefield 1 will be coming to open beta later this summer, and will be in full release on October 21st, 2016.

There also was a little quip at the end where you’d be able to see an hour of Battlefield footage streamed to Twitch..and wait…is that Jamie Foxx and Zac Efron?!
