The Xbox press conference at E3 2017 showcased what might be the “Destiny Killer”. Anthem is BioWare’s latest game and it appears to be in the same open world style as Destiny, you and a small group of friends start off in a central tower-like hub, each character with different abilities and loadouts, you are able to traverse an expansive environment to dispatch baddies of all sizes and classes.
“We’re pushing Frostbite to new heights, developing a game unlike anything EA has ever made before. We’re telling a new story, creating a social, co-operative experience, and putting it in a contiguous open world that is dynamic and will be ever-changing for years to come.“-Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President of EA Worldwide Studios
In the gameplay demo we see subtle and huge differences between this game and Destiny, for one, the player was able to jetpack off the “tower” and straight into the open world, if this game takes place in one open world, this could cut down on load times that Destiny 1 is plagued with when a player travels from planet to planet. I would like to emphasize that the developers at BioWare did not start this “Destiny killer” hype, this was started by the community, as long time players of Destiny grow weary of Bungie’s promises and lackluster practices that used to light a fire in year one vets.
Much is unknown about ANTHEM at this point. We will discuss more as the information becomes available. Let us know what you think about ANTHEM by tweeting at us or hitting us up on any of our social platforms.
