According to multiple sources (one of which being Grant Gustin’s own Twitter page) Season 3 of The Flash will be depicting the infamous 2011 DC Comics crossover event Flashpoint. For those of you who are fans of both the comic and TV show this comes of no surprise as the premise of the event was the end of season 2.

We still do not know if Flashpoint will extend to the other DCTV titles such as Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow, but it would be a great way to bring Supergirl into the fold as it has long been confirmed that the show is going to be moving to The CW this fall.

Grant Gustin has also confirmed that, as we have been getting with the DCTV lineup, we will be seeing an interpretation of Flashpoint, so don’t make any assumptions yet!

For those of you who don’t know Flashpoint was also adapted into an animated movie that was very faithful to the original arc (condensed down a bit for time obviously) where we see what happens if Barry Allen’s mother never dies and the real ramifications that time travel can have on a universe.  We got to see Atlantis and Themyscira tearing the world apart over a Shakespearian-esque fued. We got to see what would happen if the events in Crime Alley happened differently and a world without Superman (plus a whole lot more)! For more information check out the animated movie or go find the complete comic run (it was definitely a great read!)
