At this past IndieCade we chatted with Flurent Maurin about his game Bury Me, My Love. The game relates the story of Nour and Majd. Nour is a Syrian refugee who has fled to Germany while her husband has stayed behind to take care of the rest of his family. The game takes place in a mobile chat interface where Majd, the player, tries to give advice and support to his wife who is thousands of miles away. The games takes place over roughly two weeks (real time). Sometimes the player will have to wait for a response, and just like real messaging apps, is notified when there is a new message.
The game is based on the real story of a Syrian refugee and is an emotional personal journey. It is worth noting that the game is not about the turmoil in Syria, rather it is about the relationship and journey these two people go though. It’s definitely worth checking out, and watch the video. Flurent is a thoughtful and intelligent developer, and it comes through in this game.
