Refining the digital card game

Eternal is digital card game leans more towards the strategy required from table top MtG. Mana/lands style cards are required to play cards and are persistent once played. Card abilities combine traditional mechanics with ones that take advantage of the digital medium, like summoning digital copies of cards one turn after being played.

Visually the game looks great, lots of response for making plays and doing damage. Some UI for selecting cards and making them attack or defend could be improved and touch controls are a little finicky, but the game isn’t in its final form, so that could still be improved. The rest of the game plays well. Similar to its table top predecessor, attacks are assigned and then damage is resolved. That is a style that I forgot I had missed from MtG, and made me rethink what I was doing when playing this game. That little change was nice to see in a card game and made the whole experience of playing the demo more challenging and entertaining.   Eternal is worth keeping your eye on for more in-depth version of that really popular digital card game 😉
