Earlier today Apple held it’s annual fall event by inviting members of the press to gather and marvel and the next line of iPhones, Apple Watches, and many other changes coming up.  But one bit of news caught our attention, and it happened within the first twenty minutes.

It’s official guys, Mario is coming to iPhones and iPads with Super Mario Run this holiday season!  While this news is not too surprising in hindsight, the announcement was exciting and felt like a little bit of E3 in our Apple Event.  Shigeru Miyamoto came out on stage and introduced us to what a mobile Mario game looks like.  You can check out the gameplay from the official Nintendo Mobile YouTube channel below.

It’s important to note that Mario will run from left to right all by himself and it will be up to the player to tap on the screen to make him jump, this is something casual Mario players will not mind, but those who have been playing for years might not appreciate this gameplay design choice.  There will also be a social competitive aspect to the game that is sure to utilize Game Center to its fullest potential.

The other big announcement is something I have been asking for since it’s release.  Pokémon Go is getting an Apple Watch companion app.  iPhone batteries rejoice! Now players will be able to hatch their eggs, see which Pokémon are hiding around, collect Pokéstop goodies and check their player badge all without needing to leave the iPhone App running. You can check out the announcement for yourselves below!

What do you guys think? Are you excited for Mario finally making his official debut on mobile platforms or are will you stick to your 3DS?
