Almost one year ago, Rockstar Games released a teaser for Red Dead Redemption 2, the sequel to the much loved and classic game which was on XBox 360 and Playstation 3. The trailer didn’t show us much. We saw great landscapes which was one of the best features about the original Red Dead Redemption and a few silhouetted cowboys with a voice over, that’s pretty much it.
The new trailer gives us more. We now can slightly confirm the rumors that Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel for Red Dead Redemption 1. The literal description for the trailer on YouTube says,
Red Dead Redemption 2, the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive.
The Van der Linde gang was the gang John Marston rode with, and later hunted in Red Dead Redemption which included Bill Williamson, Javier Escuella, and of course Dutch Van der Linde. Dutch is seen at the end of trailer asking Arthur if he’ll have his back.
Arthur is for lack of a better word and bad guy judging by the train heist and bank robberies he is taking part in. Hopefully we might be able to use a bow and arrow which I’m excited about, and they brought back some favorite past times from the first game like hunting and horse breaking.
It looks good, question is, how can they mess this up. The one thing on everyone’s mind is Micro transaction. Yup that lovely lovely thing game devs discovered to make more money off tiny things like, a solid gold revolver, a tiger striped horse, armored wagon with optional gun turret. I’m not saying this will happen but it very well could be a possibility. If GTA Online is any indication of whats to come then it’s going to happen.
Lastly, can they really make a character that’s cooler than John Marston? He’s half the reason why I liked the game so much but then again, maybe they will…
That’s all for me folks. Hit us up in the comments and let us know what you guys think of the trailer and what theories you have.
As always this is Dave The Bearded Menace saying be easy and stay frosty out there.
