Eisner Award nominated The Wicked + The Divine has been optioned by Universal TV’s network Milkfed Criminal Masterminds. This means that Universal TV has exclusive rights for a duration of time to produce a television show based off the property.
Fresh off their run on Young Avengers at Marvel, Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie and Matt Wilson published The Wicked + The Divine at Image Comics in June 2014 to a massive success. The Wicked + The Divine depicts a world in which gods from any and every pantheon are reincarnated every 90 years. Once an individual’s divinity is revealed, they gain the ability to perform miracles and face an inevitable death two years from that point. Their lives consist of fame, controversy and a fascinating narrative. It comes highly recommended.
The Milkfed network was established back in February by Kelly Sue DeConnick (Captain Marvel, Pretty Deadly) and her husband Matt Fraction (Hawkeye, Sex Criminals) following a deal with Universal Studios. It’s been described as a launchpad for Television Shows based off theirs and other original properties from the vast comic book market.
