Willem Dafoe is known for many an iconic roll. Most people may know him as the voice of Gil in Finding Nemo/Finding Dory, or as his portrayal of the Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. I however, will always remember him as Sgt. Elias in Platoon or as Paul Smecker in Boondock Saints. Sometime next year we will get to hear Willem Dafoe use his voice acting talent to bring life (most likely death) to Ryuk The Shinigami in Netflix’s adaptation of, Death Note.

For those of you unfamiliar with Death Note, the story follows a high school student by the name of Light Yagami who discovers a book dropped by Ryuk that gives its user the power to kill anyone by writing their name in the book.

Death Note was originally a Manga series released in December of 2003 and was later turned into an Anime series in October 2006. Death Note was also adapted into three live action movies in Japan and as a television drama as well.

So what do you guys think? We here at the BCF office have been saying why stop at voice acting? Dafoe looks like Ryuk already so throw some really good prosthetics on him, use some practical effects, and there you go.
